Wendy Williams starts ‘Save The Twinkie’ campaign

Wendy Williams is taking a stand against a not-so-sweet prospect: the demise of the Twinkie.

The talk show host has started an online campaign to prevent the perishing of the notoriously nonperishable spongy snack, which she calls a “golden symbol of the American dream” in her first pro-Twinkie PSA (seen below.)

Hostess Brands, the company that produces the Twinkie, Wonder Bread and many other classic treats, filed for bankruptcy last week.

Williams has set up a Facebook page devoted to the cause. She will also promote the snack on “The Wendy Williams Show,” according to USA Today. Guests will receive gifts made out Twinkies and will be encouraged to share any stories they have about Hostess products.

Celebritology has reached out to Hostess to see what they think of Williams’s campaign. We will update if we get comment.
