Whitney Houston dies: Mariah Carey and other celebrities remember the legend

Celebrities have expressed their sadness and shock over Whitney Houston’s death at age 48.

Bobby Brown, Houston’s ex-husband, was reportedly tearful as he performed with New Edition at a show in Mississippi.

“First of all, I want to tell you that I love you all. Second, I would like to say, I love you Whitney. The hardest thing for me to do is to come on this stage,” Brown told the audience.

At his annual pre-Grammy party, Clive Davis — Houston’s longtime mentor — told those gathered, “I am personally devastated by the loss of someone who has meant so much to me. She was full of life, looking forward for tonight. She loved music and she loved this night that celebrated music.”

“Saturday Night Live” flashed a photo of Houston in a sketch with character Mary Katherine Gallagher (Molly Shannon.) Houston twice served as the musical guest on the late night show.
