Zooey Deschanel, Demi Lovato to sing national anthem at World Series

Zooey Deschanel will bring a dose of indie pop cuteness to game four of the World Series this Sunday, where she will sing the national anthem.

New episodes of the twee darling’s Fox show, “New Girl,” have been postponed to make way for the baseball event. But it seems the network, which is airing the World Series, has taken measures to make sure you don’t forget her in the meantime.

Following Deschanel’s lead, former Disney star Demi Lovato will handle the “Star-Spangled Banner” duties during game five on Monday, the Associated Press reports.

So will Deschanel mess up the lyrics as Christina Aguliera , Cyndi Lauper and other celebs have done before her? Let’s hope not.

“American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery did suffer a minor setback during game one — he was forced to start over again due to a microphone glitch and also may have flubbed a lyric. Should Deschanel encounter similar issues, she can always resort to performing the “New Girl” theme song instead.
