Zsa Zsa Gabor’s daughter appeared in court Tuesday asking a judge to place her 95-year-old mother in a conservatorship.
According to the Associated Press, Constance Francesca Hilton told the judge her mother’s husband, Fredric von Anhalt, has been sedating and isolating Gabor, and perhaps mishandling her finances and medical treatment. Hilton would like to have control of her mother’s care and finances, but would be willing to have a third party involved as well, according to her lawyer.
Von Anhalt responded to the AP by accusing Hilton of wanting her mother’s money.
It has been a sad few years for Gabor, who has been at the center of a contentious battle between Hilton, her only child, and von Anhalt, her ninth husband.
Last year when von Anhalt released a photo of a sickly Gabor toasting his 68th birthday with champagne, Hilton released a statement saying he was using her mother “to bring publicity to himself.”
“He once again releases photos of my mother in unflattering situations without hair and makeup, two things that were so important to her,” she continued.
The photo was released shortly after von Anhalt told TMZ he was planning to have a surrogate carry his wife’s child. This plan never came to fruition.
In August 2011, von Anhalt paid for a $68,000 billboard to announce his 25th wedding anniversary to Gabor.
Gabor’s health has been on the decline since she was involved in a car crash in 2002 and worsened after she suffered two strokes. The bottom half of her right leg was amputated in 2011.
A hearing over the conservatorship has been scheduled for May 2, according to the AP.
