Obama slips on names of Medal of Honor recipients

So the president slipped up.

Speaking to soldiers with the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum on Thursday, President Obama said he had presented the Medal of Honor to one of their comrades, Sgt. 1st Class Jared Monti, whom he described as the first living soldier to receive the medal during the his administration.

Monti was presented with the medal in September 2009, but posthumously.

In November, Obama presented the Medal of Honor to Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta, the first living service member to receive the honor for action during any war since Vietnam.

The White House acknowledged the president misspoke.
