Links: a season ends, a festival opens

In Friday’s Washington Post: Robert Battey’s review of the last NSO concert of the season, before the orchestra leaves on its South American tour next week. Sounds like it was a beaut; Battey had high praise, too, for the cellist Claudio Bohorquez.

Earlier this week, Christoph Eschenbach appeared with members of the orchestra in a concert by the Kennedy Center Chamber Players; Joe Banno reviewed.

And the Washington Early Music Festival opened last weekend, starting a month-long run. Charles T. Downey reviewed the Baltimore Consort, one of the festival’s higer-profile ensembles. (See above link for the schedule.)
The ensemble Hesperus will close the Washington Early Music Festival with live accompaniment to a film on June 30. The festival opened this weekend and continues through the month. (Tom Radcliffe, Point of View Studios) (Tom Radcliffe, Point of View Studios - Tom Radcliffe, Point of View Studios)
