Adele, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne scheduled for VMAs; Divas take over late night TV

Adele will make her VMAs debut next month. (Kyle Gustafson/FTWP)
- Adele, Chris Brown and Lil Wayne are the first batch of performers announced for next month’s MTV Video Music Awards. Many more names will be added in the days leading up to the Aug. 28 show.

- If you didn’t see a diva on late night TV last night you weren’t trying very hard. Beyonce (backed by the Roots, of course) performed “Best Thing I Never Had” on “Fallon.” Lady Gaga performed “You and I” and “The Edge of Glory” on “Kimmel.” And Stevie Nicks performed some new song on “Leno.”

- Did Soulja Boy buy a $55 million private jet? What?

- D.C. indie rock band Deleted Scenes had the majority of its merchandise seized by Canadian border guards recently, losing about $1,600 worth of records, shirts and CDs. Very lame. The band’s recent “Bedbedbedbedbed” is excellent.
