Animal Collective headed back to the studio; Take that Kurt Cobain-inspired Flipper shirt off your holiday wish list

- Nearly three years after its still-excellent “Merriweather Post Pavilion” album made ripples across pop music, Animal Collective is at work on a new album. Animal Collective singer Dave Portner — who performed solo as Avey Tare in Washington last week — tells that the band recently came together in Baltimore to get cracking on new material.

- Dear Santa, If you can’t bring me a Flipper t-shirt made to look like the one Kurt Cobain wore during the height of Nirvana-mania because Forever 21 has decided to discontinue it, please bring me a medium white Hanes T (crew neck, not v-neck!) and a Sharpie.

- Washington City Paper has an update on Willy “Black Cat Bill” Turner, the 14th Street fixture who was mistakenly reported be dead a few weeks back.
