- Anthony Hamilton, Anita Baker and Denyce Graves are among the artists performing at a Thursday concert celebrating the new Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. It will take place at the Washington Convention Center. The official dedication is on Sunday. Aretha Franklin, Al Green and Jennifer Hudson are scheduled to participate in Dedication Week events as well.

- Songwriting great Jerry Leiber, who along with co-writer Mike Stoller penned timeless hits such as “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock” and “Stand By Me,” died at the age of 78.

- Beyonce is reportedly set to perform at October’s Michael Jackson tribute concert — via satellite. Some question whether the concert will actually take place.
