The original kings of heavy metal, Black Sabbath, announced plans for a new album and 2012 reunion tour today at a press conference in Los Angeles. The long-rumored reunion will feature the band’s four original members — singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward. Producer extraordinaire Rick Rubin will be behind the boards for the band’s comback recording effort. This lineup of the band last performed together in the early 2000s.

The only tour date announced so far is for next June’s Download Festival in England. Metalheads might want to look into airfare — Metallica just announced it will play its classic “Black” album in its entirety at the same festival.
