Britney Spears to get VMAs tribute; Queens of the Stone Age’s Nick Oliveri facing 15 years in prison; Vampire Weekend settles album cover lawsuit

- Britney Spears will be the subject of a tribute at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 28. There are no concrete details on what that means, but that’s not surprising since the show is less than two weeks away and there’s still no host. MTV is also discussing a tribute to Amy Winehouse, which couple with the Spears tribute seems a bit creepy.

- Queens of the Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri is facing 15 years in prison on charges relating to a standoff he had with a SWAT team in L.A. last month. Unsurprisingly, Oliveri had to bail on some reunion shows for his pre-QOTSA band, Kyuss earlier this month.

- Vampire Weekend has settled with the woman who says the band used her photo without permission on the cover of last year’s album, “Contra.”
