Chris Brown leads BET Awards nominations; RIAA cracks down in California; Grammys come to Bladensburg

Chris Brown continues to rebuild his image. The tantrum throwing R&B singer leads the nominations at this year’s BET Awards with six. Last year, Brown gave a weepy performance at the awards when he paid tribute to the late Michael Jackson.

- The RIAA’s latest assault on piracy involves cracking down on CD manufacturers in California. The Los Angeles Times has the full report.

- The Grammy Foundation visited Bladensburg High this morning to present the school with  a Grammy Signature Schools Enterprise Award and a check for $5,500 to benefit the school’s music program.

- In addition to organizing their massive Sweetlife Festival earlier this month, Sweetgreen , the local salad restaraunt, has been hosting lunchtime pop-up concerts outside of its Logan Circle location. Last Friday, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. stopped by to sing some tunes. If you missed it, here’s the video.
