Foster the People make Merriweather leap; Dave Grohl says thanks to fans

Foster the People have made the leap to amphitheater status. (Kyle Gustafson/FTWP)
- Just a few months ago Foster the People was playing at 9:30 Club. This summer the “Pumped Up Kicks” stars will be headlining Merriweather Post Pavilion. The band will play at Merriweather on June 10, which seems like half a year away. Maybe they’ll pull a Throne and play “Pumped Up Kicks” nine times each show.

- It’s been quite a year for Foo Fighters — a No. 1 album, a hugely successful tour, a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. Dave Grohl took to the band’s Web site to thank the fans for making it possible.

- Chassidic reggae superstar Matisyahu has shaved his beard and is no longer Chassidic. You can see him in his newly clean-shaven state at 9:30 Club on Dec. 28.
