Tom Morello is, of course, the guitarist for funk-metal gods Rage Against the Machine. But with the release of “Worldwide Rebel Songs” he’s now delivered his fourth album of political folk as the Nightwatchman.

“This is not a vanity project,” he says. “This is not a side project. This is something I’m wholly committed to. This is my life’s work. I love the fact that I can pick up an acoustic guitar and be on the frontlines of any struggle tomorrow.”

Sometimes that takes him to pro-union rallies in Wisconsin, but tonight it brings him to the Birchmere. Read a full profile from today’s Weekend section.

Also: Mark Jenkins writes about “(Un)Lock It: the Percussive People in the Go-Go Pocket,” a Gallery at Vivid Solutions exhibition. Plus, Weekend section album review of the Ettes, Stevie Nicks, John Hiatt, Sergent Garcia and Weekend.
