- A Friday Kings of Leon concert in Dallas was cut short when frontman Caleb Followill walked off stage midset due to nausea. He said the problem was heat related, but a tweet by bandmate Jared Followill suggested otherwise: “I know you guys aren't stupid. I can't lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade.” The band’s Saturday concert in Houston was also canceled. The group is scheduled to play Jiffy Lube Live on Aug. 9. (UPDATE: The band’s entire tour has been canceled.)
- A shooting near the location of Cleveland George Clinton concert resulted in one death and three injuries. While the shooting took place near the concert, police were not clear if those involved in the incident had attended.
- R&B/soul singer Eugene McDaniels passed away on Friday at the age of 76.
