Kurt Vile, Philadelphia’s long-haired rock mystic, visits D.C.’s Rock & Roll Hotel tonight. We will be there. Of course we will — Vile is a longtime favorite around these parts.
Our infatuation got serious at SXSW in 2009, after seeing him play a couple of memorable shows. We talked to him in April 2009, just before he signed to Matador Records. Then came his 2009 album “Childish Prodigy.” An excellent November 2009 show at Black Cat in support of that album followed. Earlier this year we profiled him just before the release of his career-best effort, “Smoke Ring For My Halo.”
While you read up on the guy, here’s something to listen to: a 12-song Spotify playlist of Vile’s best stuff. If you’re on Spotify, check it out. If you’re not, watch the new video for “Baby’s Arms” below.
