Local news: Wale releases new mixtape, Chuck Brown to perform with NSO

Wale dropped a new mixtape in advance of the November release of his second album. (Josh Sisk/FTWP)
- Local rapper Wale released a new mixtape yesterday, “The Eleven One Eleven Theory.” It was quite a hot item yesterday, resulting in multiple trending topics and Twitter and even crashing Hulkshare, the Web site that hosted the free download. City Paper has that story. Here’s the track “Barry Sanders.”

- Chuck Brown with the National Symphony Orchestra? Sounds good to us. The Godfather of Go-Go will be part of the NSO’s free annual Labor Day concert on the National Mall, which this year celebrates the music of Brown, John Philip Sousa and Duke Ellington. Chaka Khan will also be part of the tribute to Brown. The concert is at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4.
