“Nevermind” nostalgia spikes; Baltimore’s Ponytail break up; House legend Theo Parrish — honorary Wu-Tang member?

“Nevermind” turns 20 on Saturday. (Photo by Michael Lavine)
- Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Nirvana’s watershed album “Nevermind,” and MTV has a report on how Kurt Cobain got control-freaky with the “Smells Like Teen Spirit” video. Tomorrow, funnyman Jon Stewart will interview Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic on Sirius. And in Sunday’s Washington Post, we’ll have an article about the influence of “Nevermind” and how it stacks up against other influential albums that have come since. Check Click Track for that article in a few hours.

R.E.M.’s big break-up earlier this week overshadowed the news that Baltimore art-rock band Ponytail also went splitsville.

- Is house music legend Theo Parrish now an honorary member of the Wu-Tang Clan? Parrish joined Ghostface Killah onstage at a gig in London on Wednesday night and filled in for the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard on “Protect Ya Neck.” Awesome.
