Washington entrepreneur Joe Englert keeps “...a rack of new singles I am playing on heavy rotation.....in 80-100 bundles of indie singles at a time.” (Photo by Blair Zervos) Every Monday, Click Track asks an interesting Washingtonian about what they’re listening to. This week we spoke with Joe Englert, a Washington entrepreneur whose name is behind such venues as The Argonaut and Rock and Roll Hotel. Englert likes to stay in the know with music: Englert spends much of his time in upstate New York and Vermont and listens to a local alternative station that keeps me current, but turns to his “go to guru”
Steve Lambert
to learn what’s new. “I just check out the bands he has booked and download their singles, usually to my amazement...” he says.
His playlist follows.
Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi, “Two Against One (with Jack White)”
Stevie Wonder, “Superwoman (Where Were You When I Needed You)”
Ray Davies, “Victoria”
The Wombats, “Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)”
Loretta Lynn, “Have Mercy”
Raphael Saadiq, “Radio”
Hank Williams III, “Country Heroes”
Cake, “Long Time”
Arctic Monkeys, “When The Sun Goes Down”
The Postelles, “Hey Little Sister”
The Fratellis, “Whistle for the Choir”
