Raheem DeVaughn talks arrest; The Roots plan new concept album; Stone Roses, Mazzy Star join reunion fray

Raheem Devaughn, Bootsy Collins and Cornel West in D.C. on Sunday. (Joy Freeman-Coulbary)
- Yesterday we mentioned that local R&B star Raheem DeVaughn (along with professor Cornel West and others) was arrested Sunday on the steps of the Supreme Court. In an interview after getting released from jail, DeVaughn said that the arresting officers treated him with respect and that in jail, “Everybody just embraced us and showed us a lot of love and applauded us for our efforts.” Where did DeVaughn and West stop for food after getting out? Ben’s Chili Bowl, of course.

- The 13th (!) album by hip-hop greats the Roots will be a concept album called “undun,” and it will arrive on Dec. 6.

- Two more alt-rock bands will be getting back together. And you thought there weren’t any more left! British baggy rockers Stone Roses (“I Wanna Be Adored”) and California dream-pop faves Mazzy Star (“Fade Into You”) are both set to reactivate. Much love to both of those band’s biggest hits.
