Rihanna defends video; T-Pain abandons Auto-Tune; Covers of Fugazi’s “Long Division” abound

- Rihanna is defending her violent new music video for “Man Down” (above) in which the singer is depicted shooting a man in retaliation for a sexual assault. “Rape is, unfortunately, happening all over the world and in our own homes, and we continue to cover it up and pretend it doesn’t happen," Rihanna said on BET’s “106 and Park” program, Thursday.

 - If you felt a rip in the fabric of our cosmos yesterday, that was T-Pain announcing that he’ll no longer be using Auto-Tune. But he won’t abandon highly-processed vocals altogether. In a statement, the R&B singer explained, “I'm onto something that I think is bigger and better called The T-Pain Effect.” Hmmm.

 - Tis the season to cover Fugazi, namely the legendary Washington band’s 1991 song “Long Division.” Buke and Gass covered it at a concert last month, and yesterday a cover by indie band Suuns appeared on the internet.
