- Cesaria Evora , a Grammy-winner who became a worldwide star singing the traditional music of the Cape Verde Island, died on Saturday at the age of 70. Evora was known as the “Barefoot Diva” because she always performed without shoes and won a 2003 Grammy in the World Music category for her album “Voz D’Amor.”
- Brian Wilson, Mike Love and Al Jardine will be back together as the Beach Boys launch a 50th anniversary tour this summer. The band was supposed to appear at last month’s Grammy nominations show, but those plans fell through. An appearance at February’s Grammys is expected, though. A list of full tour dates is forthcoming.
- Rapper Slim Dunkin was shot and killed in an Atlanta recording studio over the weekend.
