Singles file: Lana Del Rey, Gardens and Villa, Berner

Lana Del Rey’s first two singles have generated enormous online buzz. (Nicole Nodland)
A weekly playlist for the listener with a one-track mind...

Lana Del Rey: “Blue Jeans”

Del Rey calls herself the “Gangster Nancy Sinatra,” which sounds about right. The even better B-side to her upcoming “Video Games” single is like a ’60s-meets-’90s thrift-shop mix of Fiona Apple, Mazzy Star and Kate Bush.

Gardens and Villa: “Orange Blossom” (Gayngs remix)

The Justin Vernon affiliates bleed the grooviness out of the G&V staple on this languid new remix.

Berner featuring Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa and Big K.R.I.T.: “Yoko”

It’s too soon to tell whether Bay Area MC Berner is a rising star in his own right or just another Khalifa-alike. But this twisty new banger, with an added contribution from Brown, is a good start.

Foster the People featuring Kendrick Lamar: “Pumped Up Kicks” (remix)

The song of the summer gets a second wind thanks to Lamar’s rapid-fire new verse.

M83: “Raconte-Moi Une Histoire”

This simply stupendous, mercifully un-twee new track is one of the highlights of the French electro-shoegazer’s upcoming double disc set, “Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming.”
