A weekly playlist for the listener with a one-track mind...

Sleigh Bells: “Born to Lose”

The first single from the duo’s upcoming sophomore long player leans hard on the familiar: scratchy effects, schoolyard chants and twisted pop-metal.

JJ DOOM: “Rhymin’ Slang” (Dave Sitek remix)

DOOM, masked rapper and noted FOR (Friend Of Radiohead), pairs with producer Jneiro Jarel for this union of bass, raw hip-hop, creepy electro and more bass, chopped up even finer by TV on the Radio’s Sitek.

Taylor Berrett: “Anchor Chasing”

The Northern Virginia-based singer-songwriter and recent Universal Music signee stakes out territory somewhere between classic ’70s soul singers and Five for Fighting on this lovely, unadorned new ballad.

The Concept: “Gimme Twice”

The Swedish newcomers deliver seamless, 2004-reminiscent pop on this giddy new track.

Wiz Khalifa: “California”

While the world’s most energetic stoner prepares “Taylor Allderdice,” his second mix tape (and fourth release!) this year, enjoy this early outlier, a breezy, beach-ready jam.
