The Roots serenade Michele Bachmann with Fishbone’s “Lyin’ Ass B----”

Last night on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” house band the Roots did what they always do: play walk-on-tunes-as-commentary while Fallon’s guests emerge from behind the curtain.

So when Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann took the stage, the band performed a portion of... Fishbone’s “Lyin’ Ass B----.”

Bachmann appeared to be unfamiliar with the song from the ska-punk vets’ 1985 debut EP — and this morning, the internet is going crazy, crazy ,crazy.

Two years back, we profiled Questlove and learned all about how the Roots pick songs for particular guests. Read that right here. And watch the video above. (You’ll have to jump ahead to the 22-minute mark.)

Update 11:53 a.m.: NBC appears to have removed the video. Meantime, Fallon has tweeted “@questlove is grounded.”
