- Break out your air guitar. Again. Van Halen recently announced that they’re back together and will hitting the road in 2012. The reunited-again rock heroes got things started on Thursday night a small club gig in New York City. The band has also announced the dates of a tour that will visit Washington’s Verizon Center on March 28. Tickets go on sale Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. Does this feel like deja vu to anyone? Read Dave McKenna’s Washington Post review of Van Halen’s 2007 reunion right here.

- How did the music industry fare in 2011? Spin has parsed Nielsen SoundScan’s year-end album sales review and Pollstar has analyzed the top 200 North American concert tours.

- Bjork will kick off a residency-style string of shows in New York City starting in February — and she’ll be hosting an educational workshop for middle school students, too. Pretty cool.

- In today’s Weekend section, read album reviews of Buraka Som Sistema, Jeffrey Focault, Melodime and Washington’s own Drew Gibson.
