If you listen to one new album this week, make it: “Days” the sophomore-album-slash-gorgeous-portrait-of-American-suburbia-2011 from Jersey boys Real Estate. Chris Richards has the full review in tomorrow’s Post and here on Click Track.
If you see one performance this week, make it: The dozens and dozens of performances at Friday afternoon’s Yardfest, the annual hip-hop concert on the Howard University quad. In years past, the homecoming-related event has served as a launching pad for the likes of Jay-Z, Kanye West and the Notorious B.I.G. Last year’s Yardfest featured a headlining set from Rick Ross. This year, it’ll be Young Jeezy, Wale, Raheem DeVaughn, Whodini, Big Daddy Kane and a few dozen more who won’t be revealed until they step on stage.
And if you stay up late to watch one artist on television this week... Don’t bother. It’s all re-runs. Instead, check out “From A Mess to the Masses,” a documentary about the making of French rock band Phoenix ’s still-so-totally-excellent 2009 album “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.” Stream it below. (Being able to understand French will help.)
