CARTOON CONTEST: 'Next Great Cartoonist' voting ends in hours

As thousands of votes are tallied for The Post's "America's Next Great Cartoonist" contest, the window to pick your favorite of the 10 finalists closes in five hours (5 p.m. ET).

By your direct vote, the field will be narrowed to five finalists, who will be announced Wednesday morning in Comic Riffs and on the Cartoon Contest page.

Will readers agree with celebrity critiquer Hilary Price (whose strip "Rhymes With Orange" just celebrated its 15th anniversary)? Will their preferences mirror those of judge Garry Trudeau (who is preparing his 40th-anniversary "Doonesbury" retrospective book)? Or will the majority find themselves in league with The Post's Gene Weingarten (who launched his own strip this month)?

If you haven't already voted, now's the time. And watch this space tomorrow morning for the names of the five finalists.
