'CUL DE SAC,' Or: The Day's Favorite Funnypage Reference to Batman...



Friend of Comic Riffs Richard Thompson really, really knows his comics. Which is why we especially appreciate the second-panel reference in today's "Cul de Sac":

Alice saying "Adults are a sentimental lot" is, of course, a wonderful allusion to the Batman line that begins: "At night, criminals [are] a cowardly and superstitious lot..."

Thompson, who turns 53 today (and who apparently favors mouth-watering cherry pie as his birthday glucose of choice), writes: "If circumstances had been a little different Michael Keaton might have one day donned the pangolin costume."
