People of Earth, Attention!: This 'Avengers' is the Fan Video of the Day

"People of Earth, attention! People of Earth, attention!...

...This is the voice from clearly the best video of the day.

Last week brought the public unveiling of the "Avengers" teaser trailer that was straight outta Comic-Con. If anything, though, the Samuel L. Jackson/Nick Fury voiceover (set to little more than a silvery logo) only whetted the fan appetite for more Avengers.

Thankfully, one such fan has answered the call. Whoiseyevan -- aka Ivan Guerrero -- has posted this black-and-white "premake" trailer for "The Avengers." The trailer is "dated" as being from 1952 -- more than a decade, of course, before the Avengers were more than a glint in Stan Lee's and Jack Kirby's ever-inspired eyes.

If you've never checked out Whoiseyevan's "homage collages" before, then be prepared to kill a half-hour for one truly pleasant cause: enjoying more than a dozen would-be "vintage" trailers for such films as "Ghost Busters," "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and especially "Forrest Gump," which is all kinds of excellent. (May we also recommend his "premake" "Re-Animated Marvel Zombies.")

Of his "Avengers" video, "Whoiseyevan" offers this "editor's note":

"I have always wanted to work with Marvel characters... in any capacity. Maybe I will someday. For now though, enjoy my little tribute to works of Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and the heroes of the Marvel Universe. Oh, here's a fun thing to do... try and count all the characters and locations that are hidden within this trailer. Did anyone spot the Stan Lee cameo yet? I have a listing of all the Easter eggs in my next video [Comic Riffs has embedded that next video at the end of this post]. Excelsior!"

For the record, Comic Riffs asked Stan Lee whether he could spot himself in this video. Stan's sly reply: "I looked at it -- but couldn't find myself. That's strange. You'd think a guy who could double for Brad Pitt would be easy to find! Oh well."

So without further ado, here's his "Avengers" video -- let the Easter egg-hunting commence!

NOTE: "Whoiseyevan" says these films provided "the recipe for this trailer":
Man and the Moon, Flash Gordon (Deadline at Noon), The Phantom Planet, Rocketship X-M, Star Trek (The Cage), Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, The Flying Saucer, Earth vs. the Flying Saucers, The 27th Day, Superboy, The Wasp Woman, Outer Limits (Demon with the Glass Hand, The Monsters are Due on Maple Street, The Invisibles, Chameleon, Zzzzzz), Anastasia, Underworld USA, The Amazing Colossal Man, War of the Worlds, The Avengers, Captain America, It Came From Outer Space, Invasion USA, King of the Rocketmen, Zombies of the Stratosphere, Radar Men from the Moon, Die Nibelungen (Siegfried, Kriemhild's Revenge), The Man with Nine Lives, The Thing from Another World, Dr. Cyclops, The Marvel Superheroes (Hulk), Der grüne Bogenschütze, William Tell, Batman (Shoot a Crooked Arrow), The Eagle, The War of the Colossal Beast, The Gnome Mobile, Thunderball, The Dirty Dozen, Captain Scarlet, Fantastic Four (The Phantom of Film City), Our Man Higgins, Attack of the Puppet People, Land of the Giants (The Clones), Yilmayan Seytan, Tales of Frankenstein, Love Finds Andy Hardy, Das Rheingold, Fireball XL5, Stingray, Airport, Demetrius and the Gladiators.
