VIDEO OF THE DAY: The full ‘TINTIN’ trailer has landed

Ding dong, the “dead eye” is dead.

The motion-capture bugaboo that has bedeviled so many painted faces short of “Avatar” appears to have been defeated by Steven Spielberg. The full trailer for “The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn” is here, and judging strictly by this two-minute-plus peek, the secret’s out: Hergé’s globetrotting boy has reassuringly lively eyes.

The voicework also is lively, thanks to such talents as Jamie Bell (Tintin), Andy Serkis (Captain Haddock), Simon Pegg (Inspector Thompson) and Daniel Craig (Red Rackham).

The film — co-produced by Peter Jackson — reportedly combines storylines from the Crab with the Golden Claws, the Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham’s Treasure.

And for all his movies that have kid appeal, this is the first animated feature film with Spielberg in the director’s chair.

“Tintin” is slated for a Dec. 23 release in the United States.
