17-year-old girl fatally shot in Kettering home

A 17-year-old girl was shot and killed in a Kettering home Wednesday night, Prince George’s County police reported.

The slaying took place in the 100 block of Chartsey Street, in the Upper Marlboro area, around 10:20 p.m. Police said officers found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound inside the home, where she apparently lived.

The girl, who was a student at Flowers High School, subsequently died, and Prince George’s County police said the case is being investigated as a homicide.

Police said the teenager was in her bedroom when she was shot, and that there were several people in the house at the time.

Police have not released the identities of the victim or her family members. No information on a suspect or motive was immediately available.

Investigators were still at the Chartsey Street home early Thursday investigating the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call 866-411-TIPS.
