2 arrested in burglary of McLean home

Two people have been accused of breaking into a McLean home, demanding money from the occupants and then striking a woman in her 70s, Fairfax County police said.

Jasmine Nadine Vanderplas, also known as “Thundershield,” 30, and Tae Won Kang, 29, were arrested in an apartment in the 7400 block of Lee Highway in Falls Church on Wednesday night, police said. Neither has a fixed address.

The pair have been charged with robbery and abduction.

Around 7:50 a.m. Wednesday, a couple was awakened after hearing noises in the lower level of their McLean house, which is in the 1500 block of Pathfinder Lane, police said.

A woman went down to see what was going on and encountered the burglars, who attacked her, police said. The burglars then got the man out of bed. After one of the victims screamed, the burglars fled with a purse, police said.

Police said a citizen’s tip led them to the arrests.
