IJAMSVILLE, Md. — Two Frederick residents have been charged with abandoning eight dogs in Ijamsville.
The Frederick News-Post reports that 32-year-old Christopher David Stone and 33-year-old Danielle Krull each face 24 charges alleging that they failed to provide proper veterinary care for the seven pit bull-mix puppies and one adult male and abandoning them last year. A criminal summons was served on Wednesday.
Animal control officials say the dogs were suffering from weight loss and skin conditions. The adult was euthanized when officials determined he had serious medical problems.
Animal Control Director Harold Domer says five puppies have been adopted and the other two were rescued by the Animal Welfare League of Frederick County.
Investigators say a witness who recognized the dogs led them to Stone and Krull.
