2 shot dead overnight in Pr. George’s County

Police are investigating two fatal shootings in Prince George’s County that occurred less than 12 hours apart Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, authorities said.

A male 7-Eleven clerk was shot and killed during an apparent robbery around 3:30 a.m. in the 9200 block of Oxon Hill Road in Fort Washington, Cpl. Mike Rodriguez told WUSA (Channel 9). Officers arrived to find the clerk suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooter fled.

Police are pulling surveillance footage from the store to get a description of the male suspect, Rodriguez told the TV station. Another employee was in the store at the time of shooting, but was not hurt. Police did not release the victim’s name or age.

Another man was fatally shot Wednesday evening in an Oxon Hill-area parking lot, Rodriguez told WUSA.

Officers responded to a call for a shooting about 7 p.m. near the intersection of Wheeler Hills and Wheeler roads, just outside the District. Police found the victim with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Rodriguez said.

That victim’s name and age also were not released.

Rodriguez did not say whether the slayings, which occurred nearly six miles apart, were related. The 7-Eleven shooting was south of the District and National Harbor, just west of Indian Head Highway.
