3 killed, 2 hurt in violent end to holiday

Three people were killed and two were injured during a violent end to the holiday weekend in Prince George’s County and the District.

Prince George’s County police responded to reports of a shooting near Denise Drive and Rollins Avenue in Capitol Heights around 11:30 p.m. and found two men suffering from “body trauma,” said Cpl. Larry Johnson. The men were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not identified any suspects in the case, according to Johnson.

“It’s a wide open investigation at this point,” Johnson said.

Johnson asked anyone with information about the case to call Prince George’s County police at 301-772-4925 or 1-866-411-TIPS.

In a separate incident, two juvenile males were shot in the 1400 block of New Jersey Avenue in Northwest D.C. around 10 p.m., police said.

One of the juveniles died from his injuries, while the other was transported to the hospital, police said. The juvenile’s condition was not released and no arrests have been made in the case.

In a third, unrelated incident, a juvenile male was shot in the 3300 block of 14th Place in Southeast D.C. around 10 p.m., police said. He was transferred to the hospital, but police did not release his condition.

No additional details were available about any of the incidents early Monday morning.
