4 dead in apparent murder-suicide in Anne Arundel

Anne Arundel police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide at a home in Brooklyn Park where a man, a woman and two children were found dead Sunday.

Around 9 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to the 600 block of Wood Street in Brooklyn Park, where a woman had called the police after receiving a troubling text message from her son. While talking with the woman outside, officers heard a single gunshot.

The officers entered the house and found an adult male, believed to be the woman’s son, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot. They also found an adult female and two teenagers dead from gunshot wounds.

Police spokesman Lt. J.D. Batten said “every indication” is that the man who sent the text message killed the other residents and then turned the gun on himself, which was the shot police heard outside.

The names and ages of the victims were not immediately available.
