Adoption Day at D.C. Superior Court Saturday

D. C. Superior Court and the District’s D.C. Child and Family Services Agency will co-host the city’s 26th annual adoption day ceremony at the courthouse Saturday.

More than 20 adoptions will be finalized at the ceremony. The annual event is designed to celebrate adoptive families and encourage Washington area residents to consider adopting or fostering a child in the District’s public child welfare system.

There are currently about 120 children in D.C. foster care awaiting adoptive homes, program officials said.

One of the scheduled speakers at Saturday’s program is Reese Hoffa, 2012 Summer Olympics U.S. bronze medalist. Hoffa was adopted when he was five-years-old.
