Andy Yun identified as victim in Franconia killing

Police have identitified a man killed in his Franconia home Friday as 32-year-old Andy Yu.

Eric C. Kweder, Yu’s roommate and a former All-Met athlete, was arrested in the killing on Friday following a police search for him using a helicopter and dogs, Fairfax County police said.

Kweder, 34, allegedly struck Yu with a blunt object inside the town home in the 6000 block of Hydrangea Drive and then fled the scene Friday morning, police said.

Officers arrived at the townhouse about 10:20 a.m. after an unidentified person placed a call about someone in medical distress at the address, police said.

Kweder was arrested around 2:30 p.m. Friday, police said. Police declined to discuss a motive for the killing or describe where Yu’s body was found inside the home.

This post has been updated to correct a police department misspelling of the victim’s last name.
