STAUNTON, Va. — A Lyndhurst man accused of killing two relatives in 2000 will remain in a state mental hospital for at least another year.
The News Leader reports that Wednesday’s ruling by an Augusta County Circuit Court judge came in a yearly review of 47-year-old Mark T. Zawhorodny’s case. Zawhorodny will remain at Western State Hospital.
He was charged with fatally shooting his brother and 14-year-old nephew following an argument over family dogs.
Zawhorodny was found not guilty by reason of insanity in 2001. A psychologist from Western State Hospital testified he suffered from schizophrenia and paranoia.
Zawhorodny’s case will be reviewed again in 2013.
