Arlington police warn of phone scam

Arlington Police are warning residents of a phone scam in which they say a man with a thick Indian accent is posing as a bill collector and pressuring people into giving him their bank account information.

There have been four such cases in recent weeks, including one in which a woman gave the man her information, police said.

Police remind residents to never give out personal data — such as social security numbers and bank account information — over the telephone unless they know the person on the other end.
