D.C. police said the person shot during the attempted armored car holdup Wednesday was one of the would-be robbers, identified as Kirk A. Dean, 27, of Northwest Washington.
Dean was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital, according to police.
Dean’s two alleged accomplices were arrested a short time after the incident and charged with attempted robbery of an armored car, police said Thursday.
Police identified them as Darnell Crews, 26, and Anthony James, 21, both of the 800 block of Butternut Street NW.
