Arrest made in fatal Lorton accident

A Woodbrige man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with a February car crash that killed a woman in the Lorton area, according to Fairfax County police.

Carlos Edgar Portillo, 27, was driving southbound on Ox Road on February 9 when he allegedly smashed into a car being driven by Sharon Parish, police said.

Parish, 57, was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Henderson Road at the time, according to police.

She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Portillo was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police said speed was a factor in the crash.
