The commander of the Baltimore police department's homicide unit has been suspended after his damaged cruiser was found in a ditch by an Interstate 95 exit ramp.
State police spokesman Greg Shipley says troopers found a Fort Taurus down an embankment on the shoulder of the Route 32 exit ramp in the Savage area on Sunday evening.
He says no one was around, but there was minor damage to the front bumper from brush.
Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says Maj. Terrence McLarney was working Sunday and it appears he was on his way home when he lost control. He says state police will investigate the crash and then the department will conduct its own internal investigation.
Meanwhile, Guglielmi says McLarney is on routine suspension.
