Boaters plucked from Potomac near Georgetown

At least two people were rescued from the Potomac River in the Georgetown area Sunday night after apparently falling from a boat, authorities said.

No serious injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred about 8:30 p.m. near the Washington Harbour development, said D.C. fire and emergency medical services spokesman Pete Piringer.

He said that the passengers may have been sent into the water after the boat made an “abrupt move.” It was not clear what caused the move, but an online report posted by Piringer said “no collision” occurred.
