Bowie police arrest pair accused of swiping packages

Bowie police have arrested a man and a woman they say were taking packages that had been delivered to area homes, authorities said Thursday.

Anisha Wilson and Gary Jenkins, both 21 and from Greenbelt, are suspected of taking packages from at least 10 people in Bowie and possibly more throughout Prince George’s County, authorities said. They were charged with multiple counts of theft, authorities said.

Police said the incidents first came to their attention in December, when investigators noticed a spike in thefts of delivered packages. A break in the case, though, did not come until Feb. 6, when officers stopped a vehicle driving around the Rockledge and Overbrook sections of Bowie and found several packages in the back seat.

The packages bore various Bowie addresses, police said. They said investigators later searched a home in Greenbelt and other vehicles and recovered packages that were meant to be delivered to homes throughout Prince George’s County.
