Boy allegedly abducted by father in Prince George’s County

A Bethesda man was charged with assault and armed carjacking Wednesday in connection with an incident in which he allegedly took the vehicle his 4-year-old son was riding in from the child’s mother at gunpoint.

Kyle Britton, 26, was arrested about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday and charged with first- and second-degree assault and armed carjacking, Prince George’s County police said.

He is accused of taking his son’s mother’s vehicle from an Exxon gas station in the 7500 block of Landover Road in Hyattsville about 8 a.m. Wednesday, police said. Britton’s 4-year-old son was still inside at the time, police said.

Police said the 4-year-old was found safe and unharmed at a school in D.C. about 12:55 p.m., and they were still probing the custody arrangement between Britton and the child’s mother.
