Camp Springs man killed in Friday St. Mary’s crash

An 85-year-old Maryland man was killed when his car veered into oncoming traffic at about 6 a.m. Friday morning, according to the St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Department.

Lorenza Best, of Camp Springs, was heading south on Patuxent Beach Road when his 2009 Scion XD crossed the center line and hit a 1999 Ford Explorer. Best was killed in the collision.

The driver of the Explorer was taken to an area hospital.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the collision, police said.
