Capitol Hill elementary school burglarized

D.C. police are looking for several people who broke into Brent Elementary School in Capitol Hill earlier this month and stole computer equipment.

Authorities said they are investigating whether the break-in over Thanksgiving weekend is connected to another burglary at the school on Oct. 9, when computers were also targeted. Brent Elementary School is in the 300 block of North Carolina Ave. SE.

The break-in at Brent is one in a series of recent burglaries at District schools over the holiday, when students were home and the buildings were closed.

Police previously released video of an early morning break-in, also on Nov. 23, at Brightwood Elementary School in the 1300 block of Nicholson St. NW.

A surveillance video released by D.C. police of the latest break-in at Brent Elementary shows one young man walking through the hallways, carrying what appears to be a laptop computer tucked under his arm. He’s wearing a hooded sweatshirt with his face covered.

Anyone with information about this case is urged to call D.C. police at 202-727-9011 or text the department’s tip line at 50411. Police are offering a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
