Car careens into yard, injures four children playing in kiddie pool, officials said

A car crashed through a front yard and injured four children playing in a kiddie pool Friday afternoon in Bladensburg, Prince George’s County authorities said.

The woman driving and an 8-year-old girl who was riding inside the car also were injured when the vehicle careened into the yard in the 5200 block of 57th Avenue just before 4 p.m., said Asst. Chief Ron Bridges, a fire department spokesman.

The four children, who were playing in the pool, were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. They were ages 10, 9, 7 and 5, Bridges said.

The driver and passenger were also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
